This item is garbage. I tried every jumper configuration possible without shorting it to ground via the dreaded “never do this” position. I could not get the drive to be recognized.
The item arrived in a box full of bubble wrap but no directions.
The item is so cheap that it’s not worth returning. Still, I can never get the 3 hours I wasted on this thing back so it was kind of an expensive failure. It didn’t destroy my hard disk though and it still works fine in the laptop.

The good news is I only wasted $5 on this. I found it very delicate and prone to breaking. I bought a $20 Sabrent adapter and that is terrific!

it works very well for what im using it for. i left the hard drive in my computer that i was getting data off. the pins do bend very easily so if youre going to be attaching and reattaching this, you may want to look for something sturdier. it was very easy to install, i use a windows 7 machine and it found the hard drive and installed the drivers. this adapter does its job very well, but if youre to ruff with it you may break something.

Yup – perfect little adapter. I had a dodgy laptop HD that had started to show signs of wear. A quick pop into a full-sized desktop using this wee adapter resulted in me rescuing about 99% of my ‘mostly unimportant data but stuff I didn’t want to lose’ catagory.
If you have some 2.5″ drives laying around then for the price it’s worth its weight in gold. Plug and play – works 100% as described – no messy slave/master stuff (you should use a CABLE SELECT IDE and have your ducks in a row before plugging it in).
Great!
