I noticed that yhou never published my review that rates the Targus TLE400 Notebook Case as a “1″

Why? You claim your ratings go from 1 to 5, yet you show zero ratings at 1 star. In my opinion this product deserves a low rating. Now I don’t trust Amazon in addition to not trusting Targus.

Accidentally placed two orders and did not want this item. I was able to cancel the items coming directly from amazon immediately, but this item came from a third party and there was no option to cancel. I had to pay for the shipping to receive the item I did not want, wait to receive it and then pay shipping and send it back, still waiting for a refund.

I purchased this product a few days ago, was very happy with Amazon’s service and the speedy delivery even with the FREE shipping deal. However, not very happy with the product and was disappointed. I had to return it the same day I received it and purchase a smaller Targus. It was simply too big for my laptop which was only 14.1″, I got it because of the different compartments but when I got it, it reminds me of a huge portfolio bag that you would carry your drawings and sketches in.

If you truly don’t have a huge laptop, this is not for you!

NOTE: This review is for the 15.4″ model (TLE-300) NOT the 17″ model (TLE-400) UNLIKE most of the reviews posted here.

Short and sweet: not a particulary great case. Only the outermost front and rear panels are leather, the rest is “pleather” (i.e., vinyl). While the thing was certainly not expensive ($40 delivered/$55 MSRP), it doesn’t look it either…you won’t mistake the thing for Coach. It looked nicer on the website than it does in person. Watch your laptop on the zippers in the dedicated computer compartment…it’s real easy to scratch your expensive toy as there are no flaps over the opening (get out of the rain fast, this thing is not w/p) and the compartment does not zip open all the way. Not a lot of padding either…best not throw the thing around! I imagine that the 17″ model is no better constructed…it’s just more money. I guess you get what you pay for.

Ok. I can understand the great reviews as far as the functionality of this product. I just received mine and took a look through, and it looks like it can hold all my stuff. I searched high and low (gave up on the feminine bags) for something to hold my 17 in. Mac Book Pro, plus the cords as well as all of my personal files. I was happy to find this one, but while looking through it, I found myself gasping for fresh air because of the nasty chemical smell of the lining and the pleather! That indicates cheap, cheap, cheap. If you have ever looked at the fake designer purses on the streets of NYC, you know what I mean. I’m very surprised that nobody mentioned it in their reviews!

I think i’m going to have to return this, unless someone can tell me the smell goes away. Even if it does, I’d seriously be concerned about the toxicity of the material. I’m sure if they did actually use leather like they claimed, they probably would have splurged for better lining, too. You may end up with some tumors, but at least you have an affordable bag!
